CRIBRIFORM PATTERN : #patternsinhistopathology

CRIBRIFORM:  It is an anatomical structure with many perforations like that of a sieve! :Cribriform plate of ethmoid bone

CRIBRIFORM PATTERN:

It is an histomorphological pattern wherein the sheets of epithelial cells are punctuated by empty/gland like spaces. In other words there are gaps in between the tumor cells

This pattern is seen in the following lesions/tumors

  1. Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma
  2. Cribriform-Morular Variant of Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma
  3. Cribriform adenocarcinoma of minor salivary gland
  4. Cutaneous Cribriform Carcinoma
  5. Cribriform high-grade PIN/Invasive Ca
  6. Cribriform neuroepithelial tumor (CRINET)
